Conceria Tris for environmental sustainability: cogeneration

Can you always be more environmentally friendly, making every year a step further? In our opinion, yes. And that is why we have installed in Conceria Tris, a cogeneration plant in partnership with BioBrent Srl, Noventa Vicentina.

The plant, already active, saves us in the use of primary energy, emit less harmful substances in the environment (in particular, oxides of nitrogen and carbon dioxide) and, together, reduce costs, ensuring maximum production performance.

COGENERATION: WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT?

Cogeneration is a process that allows you to simultaneously produce electricity and heat, through a single fossil or renewable source (natural gas, biogas, vegetable oil, etc.). The energy produced is applied both in the production-industrial, civil, commercial ambit and for the heating of all types of buildings (private houses, shopping centers, offices, hospitals, etc.). In purely industrial field, in addition to the tanning and textile sector, cogeneration is also used in the agri-food industry, paper mills, plastics, pharmaceutical, chemical, refineries, etc.

ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS OF COGENERATION

Cogeneration is, for years, recognized worldwide as cleaner and more economical than centralized generation systems.

Environmentally, the companies that choose to adopt a cogeneration plant:

  • diminish the exploitation of primary energy
  • reduce the transmission losses
  • lower the level of emission of CO2 and NOx, thanks to the use of natural gas
 
COGENERATION IN THE CONCRETE: TWO EXAMPLES*

In the food context, for example, a cogeneration plant realized with a 1,000 kWe motor allows a saving of primary energy up to 20% and a savings in economic terms, greater than 30%. The plant recovers heat from the cooling of the engine for the production of hot water and by the exhaust fumes for the production of steam, which is then used in the production process.

In the chemical context, instead, a system with a 500 kWe engine enables a greater than 20% energy saving and a savings in economic terms, greater than 25%.

First, because we love the environment in which we live and work. Our production process needs, every day, large amounts of energy and, therefore, we have chosen to adopt a solution that allows us to save the emission of dangerous substances to the environment and, together, to reduce costs.
